Carving fossilized ivory, was a logical progression from the scrimshaw discipline.

Bill carved a !5 foot Tlingit totem pole in 95 and 96, since then he has added large and small wood carving, native masks, life studies of ducks and fish, signs, posts, and freeform driftwood carving. From there Bill branched into, jewelry casting, lapidary, and pottery figurines. Bill no longer practices pen and ink, his interests have led him into a watercolor study.
