A. Artist background; self taught artist naturalist, Bill has devoted
his entire life to pursue multi-diverse study of multiple art media, and
many natural science subjects, his art subjects reflect the complexity
of his knowledge. Bills interpretation of the natural world around started
at a young age, Modeling clay, the first medium, drawing and oil painting,
led to a 19 year study of pen and ink, and scrimshaw. Carving fossilized
ivory, was a logical progression from the scrimshaw discipline.
Bill carved a !5 foot Tlingit totem pole in 95 and 96, since then he has
added large and small wood carving, native masks, life studies of
ducks and fish, signs, posts, and freeform driftwood carving. From there Bill branched into,
jewelry casting, lapidary, and pottery figurines. Bill no
longer practices pen and ink, his interests have led him into a
watercolor study.
