Pacific Loon

Detail below..

“ The light briefly dims over nothern skies, although the sun never dips below the horizon. A chilly Arctic breeze whips the feathers from the nest of a Pacific Loon over the tundra flowers. One of the parent loons nestle into the rich down lining of their floating next, anchored near the shore of a newly-thawed pond. The pair has patiently incubated their clutch - soon to hatch. An Arctic fox comes near the nest, searching for food for her young, but neither Arctic fox nor snowy owls dare venture close. ”
