Storm Petrels - Birds That Dance With the Sea
Detail below..
Of the legends seabirds evoke, the Storm Petrels have the most beloved reputation. The ability of Storm Petrels to ride out the worst of oceanic storms earned them their name and gave them great respect from ancient and, probably, modern mariners alike. Ancient mariners often called them "Mother Carey's Chickens," coming from an old prayer asking for divine help during stormy seas. It is considered bad luck to kill a Storm Petrel.
