Winter Birds - Great Horned Owl
The Great Horned Owl is the third largest Alaskan owl and are distinguished from other large owls by the two long tufts of feathers on their heads. They are far more aggressive than the Great Gray and Snowy Owls. While these larger cousins prefer hunting rodents almost exclusively, Great Hoorned Owls often take large prey.
