Winter Birds - Great Gray Owl
The breeding range of the Great Gray Owl extends from the northern extreme of the boreal forest, stretching south to the northern Cascades and east to Labrador.l Great Grays choose standing broken tree stubs or abandoned hawk and Great Horned Owl nests to raise their broods. During times of prey declines, the owls will actually raise smaller broods.
