Wrangell Saint Elias Brown bear and cubs
This painting was done after I took a sea voyage form Juneau to Homer spring of 2002. Although I was too far out at sea to actually see this scene, the coastline was rugged and foreboding. There was a human free area, dominated by healthy populations of big coastal brown bears. When creating different paintings I like to imagine wild areas I have gone through to place myself there, I set the scene of a winding creek close to the coast late May early June, somewhere between Yakutat and Cordova.
