When I expressed my desire to make art my career, those people close to me made jokes expressing, " you do know you will not see financial success until you die." Well they weren’t far from the truth. Sign work has been my saving grace. My desire to do art inevitably
led me to learn and practice the design and layout of commercial sign art. Although I may not be particularly inspired by commercial sign work, I take solace in the fact I can use my skills to produce an effective and even aesthetic design and layout
for some ones business, or the personal satisfaction of creating a beautiful set of letters for someone’s boat. I have learned the way I have with much of my mediums, on the job so to speak. Through out the process, I have learned to do hand painted, and carved signs, and custom boat lettering. I can do an eclectic array of sign types and designs. I do not have the desire to be a full time sign artist; I usually take on sign work to bring income in during the lean months of winter. Reserving the summer months to work on all my other media
